Sophomore forward Laura Sanderson has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Field Hockey Player of the Week. Sanderson had seven points with three goals and an assist during a perfect 2-0 week for the field hockey team. Saturday afternoon at Colby, Sanderson scored the game-winning goal on a penalty corner just as time expired to lift the Camels to a 3-2 conference triumph.

The Hanover, N.H. native also contributed a pair of goals and an assist in a 6-1 win at Eastern Connecticut State University on Thursday. In just two games, Sanderson has already eclipsed her offensive output from all of last season when she accounted for two goals, one assist and five points in nine games played for the Camels.

"This NESCAC accolade is an honor for Laura and our program," head coach Debbie Lavigne said. "Laura provides a tremendous spark for us on the forward line. She is a playmaker and can finish for us in front of the cage. We will look for Laura to be a solid contributor for us all season." The Camels host Springfield College at 4:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 14, on the Artificial Turf at Silfen Field.
