Connecticut College is a top producer of Fulbright scholars
Connecticut College is a top producer of Fulbright scholars, according to the Fulbright Scholar Program. The list of this year’s top-producing bachelor’s institutions was published in the Chronicle of Higher Education.
Fulbright recipients receive round-trip travel to their host countries, a living stipend, research allowances and medical insurance. Connecticut College has had 29 Fulbrights in the last five years, and is consistently recognized as a top producer of Fulbright recipients.
The Fulbright Program is the U.S. government’s flagship international educational exchange program. Since its inception in 1946, the Fulbright Program has provided more than 300,000 participants — chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential — with the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research, exchange ideas and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns.
Five recent graduates from the College’s Class of 2014 are currently serving as Fulbright scholars — some have returned to countries they visited as part of their undergraduate experience, others are exploring new territories. All were well-prepared for their assignments by a Connecticut College education that infuses a global perspective into learning across its many academic disciplines.

A government major with minors in sociology and history, Maggie Nelson, from Vienna, Va., is a Fulbright scholar in Malaysia.
Anthony Sis '14
A government major from Chicago, Anthony Sis is a Fulbright scholar in Portugal.
Blair Southworth '14
An environmental studies major from Andover, N.H., Blair Southworth is a Fulbright scholar in Indonesia.
