Happy New Year from Connecticut College

To wish everyone faith, friendship and love in 2017 and always, President Katherine Bergeron and her husband, Butch Rovan, took the Connecticut College Alma Mater and updated it for the season.

In the lively R&B ballad, Bergeron is joined by vocalists Louise Brownsberger '16 and Katherine McDonald '16, along with Rovan on sax and bass, Drew Andre '16 on guitar, Kolton Harris '14 on drums, and the exuberant members of the Connecticut College chorus.

"Alma Mater by the Sea" was written in the spring of 1920 by two students, Olive Littlehales Corbin '21 (words) and Edith C. Smith '20 (music). Additional stanzas were added in the late 1980s by Jeffrey G. Barnhart '89, MAT '92 and Claire L. Gaudiani '66. The R&B version was first performed during the 2016 Commencement ceremony.
