WALKING, BIKING, AND RUNNING

MapFinal_12
When walking, biking, and running between campus and downtown New London. There are a couple of routes that are recommended.
  1. Williams Street--Huntington Street--State Street route
  2. Williams Street--Broad Street--State Street route
Both of these routes are roughly 2 miles between State Street and the Williams Street entrance to campus. Please see the map for a visual reference of these two routes.
Please do not attempt to walk between downtown and campus by walking from Bank Street to Water Street and onto RT 32 (Mohegan Ave). This route will lead you onto the large highway-like overpasses that are not designed for pedestrians, runners, or bikes.

Bikes are a great way to get around campus and the region. Bike racks are available in many locations on campus and in the City of New London; however you will want to bring your own locking device. We also encourage you to register your bicycle with Campus Safety at no cost. Bikes can be stored in some residence halls; however motorbikes are not permitted in the residences.

You may find that you don’t need a car at Connecticut College. There are numerous transportation alternatives, including the Camel Van shuttle, SEAT (the local city bus), and several taxi services. Many students also use bicycles to get around campus and off. If you still think you’ll need to bring a car to campus, learn more about motor vehicle registration and parking rules.
