Library Research Tools

OneSearch

The Connecticut College Library catalog. Search for books, ebooks, articles, and videos from Shain and Greer Libraries. Select "ConnColl Books & Media" from the drop-down menu inside OneSearch to focus the search on library books and media. Limit to peer-reviewed journals or other material types by using the search limiters on the left-hand side of the screen.

Library Databases

Library databases are organized collections of information such as articles, journals, ebooks and ebook chapters, images, media, datasets, newspapers, and more. Some are organized by discipline, while others are multi-disciplinary. Use the Subject or Database Type filters to focus your search for a database.

Digital Commons

Connecticut College’s institutional repository, housing published and unpublished work by faculty and students as well as publications of College departments and offices. Digital Commons provides electronic preservation and persistent access worldwide to the scholarly and creative works of the College community.

Lear Center for Special Collections and Archives

Search our special collections finding aids (the first box), or our cataloged holdings (the second box). Those two search engines cover most of what we have.

WorldCat

A catalog of books and other materials in libraries worldwide. Use this database to search for books and other materials outside of the Connecticut College library catalog.

Interlibrary Loan

A library service for Connecticut College faculty, staff, and students to request materials from other libraries, primarily for items that are not available in our own library collections.

Google Scholar

A simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature. Works best when configured to access Connecticut College subscriptions by following these instructions, in addition to installing LibKey Nomad.

LibKey Nomad

LibKey Nomad is a browser extension that provides links to full text content through the library as you do research on the web.

RefWorks

A bibliography and citation manager that allows users to automatically generate citations by importing references from library catalogs and databases, including Google Scholar. Collaborate on, and export, bibliographies in all major styles.
