OnStage at Connecticut College hosts Grammy-winning Vanguard Jazz Orchestra Nov. 6

NEW LONDON, Conn. - OnStage at Connecticut College is proud to host the Grammy-winning Vanguard Jazz Orchestra on Nov. 6 at 8 p.m. in John C. Evans Hall. The 16-member jazz orchestra features the nation's foremost jazz performers, composers and arrangers, including John Mosca and Dick Oatts. The group's talent and unique blend of musical arrangements has earned it world acclaim. After performing together for 37 years, the group won its first Grammy in 2004. Five years later, the group won a second Grammy for the best large jazz ensemble and earned a Grammy nomination for its latest album, "Monday Night at The Village Vanguard."

Gary Giddins, an acclaimed jazz critic for The New Yorker, said of the group, "There probably isn't a big band in the country that can rival the bullish precision of this one. Not only is the clockwork impeccable, but it takes risks, commissions new pieces and has exceptional soloists in every section."

Tickets are $22 for general admission, $20 for seniors and $11 for students. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit http://onstage.conncoll.edu or call (860) 439-ARTS. OnStage at Connecticut College is presented with support from Citizens Bank, Chubb Federal Insurance Company, The Day and Charter Oak Credit Union.
