New Rent-A-Text program helps students save money

The Connecticut College Bookshop is offering a new program that gives students an option to save money by renting new or used textbooks for the semester. Through Rent-A-Text, students can save as much as 50 percent on their books, according to Bookshop administrators. "We want to get students the material they need at as low a cost as possible," Bookshop Manager Pat Beebe said. "Students won´t find lower prices anywhere else." The process is simple. Students need to be over the age of 18 with a valid credit card, email address and government issued ID, and then they just fill out a rental agreement. Students can create and manage their rental accounts online.

The program also provides refunds for students who switch classes and gives students the option to buy books at the end of the semester. Rent-A-Text even permits some highlighting and note taking as long as it is limited. "Having the option to rent textbooks is really going to accommodate all students at Connecticut College and not make the process of getting textbooks such a stress on people´s wallets," Tom Schrader ´12 said. "I´m definitely going to look into renting books." To find out more information, visit the Connecticut College Bookshop on campus in Crozier-Williams or online. By Kelly Parlin ´12
