onStage at Connecticut College presents Limón Dance Company Sept. 30

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Limón Dance Company will bring its dramatic expression, technical mastery and expansive movement to Connecticut College Sept. 30. The company, which is celebrating its 65th anniversary, will perform three works by Limón - "The Emperor Jones," "There is a Time" and "Chaconne" - as well as "La Cathédrale Engloutie" by Jirí Kylián. "The Emperor Jones," which premiered in 1956 and was performed in Palmer Auditorium the following year, is based on a play by Eugene O'Neill.

"As Connecticut College celebrates its Centennial, it's fitting and exciting that we bring back the Limón Dance Company to perform a piece that has such a deep historical connection to the College and the region," Robert Richter, director of arts programming said. "In the history of the College, there is no other dance company that has performed more on Palmer stage than Limón, and it is a great pleasure to welcome them back for the first time in more than a decade." Tickets are $28, $24, $20 for general admission; $25, $21.50, $18 for seniors; $14, $12, $10 for students.
