Cross Country’s Meredith Cronin ’21 earns All-America honors

Meredith Cronin ’21 of the Connecticut College women’s cross country team earned All-America laurels at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships Saturday at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.

The junior, who hails from Foxborough, Massachusetts, was in 61st place at the 1k check point. She moved up to 50th at the 3k and 48th when she had finished 4,000-meters. The junior then made a 15-spot jump over the last 2k to place 33rd overall in 22:07.7 and one spot ahead of Coast Guard's Kaitlin Mooney to cap her first appearance at an NCAA championship event on a very high note.

It was the first NCAA championship race for Cronin, who has been the women’s cross country team’s top performer since she joined the team as a first year student.

Cronin is the third member of the women’s cross country team to earn All-America accolades. Katie McGee ’95 was the first to accomplish the feat by finishing 14th in 1992, and Maura Danahy ’02 earned the honor three times between 1999 and 2001.

Cronin will next compete as a member of Connecticut College’s indoor track and field program this winter.
