Chap Swapped: President Chapdelaine and Davi Schulman ’25 switch places

In classic “identity swap” films like Freaky Friday or The Change-Up, some mythical item is necessary to catalyze the protagonists’ changing places, be it a magic fortune cookie, mystical dagger or enchanted fountain.

But for this week’s “Chap Swap,” which saw Connecticut College President Andrea Chapdelaine and student Davi Schulman ’25 switch roles, it seems Conn’s campus is charmed enough all on its own.

Between the evening of Monday, April 21, and the late afternoon on Wednesday, April 24, the student and administrator had multiple opportunities to swap places and experience life at Conn in the other’s shoes—metaphorically speaking. Schulman, an English and sociology double major from New Rochelle, New York, attended meetings with the president’s cabinet, chatted over coffee with two members of the Board of Trustees, and even walked Koda, the “first dog,” around campus. Chapdelaine, meanwhile, momentarily assumed the role of Hillel treasurer, attended Schulman’s “Health Psychology” class, and helped distribute copies of the College Voice, Conn’s student newspaper, around campus.
