Reimagining Cro-Share your thoughts with the architects

Dear Members of the Connecticut College Community,

The Strategic Plan, Building on Strength, identified a number of priorities to activate campus spaces and to engage faculty, staff and students in new and exciting ways. The revitalization of the College Center at Crozier-Williams was among these priorities. I am writing to provide an update on this project and to share opportunities for your involvement over the fall semester.

I am pleased to announce that Connecticut College has selected JCJ Architecture to lead the design for major renovations to the College Center at Crozier-Williams. Over the summer, this important work with JCJ got underway. Currently, they are in the early phases of determining what kinds of activities and spaces should be considered for the renovated Cro. This included conducting a site assessment and analysis and meeting with key stakeholders to gather feedback.

The next step in the process is to provide opportunities for broader community input. JCJ staff will have a table set up in Cro from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, and from 10 to noon on Friday, Sept. 28. Students, faculty, staff, alumni or friends of the campus community are welcome to share their thoughts on re-imagining Cro.

Below is a timeline and schedule for work that is planned over the next several months.

  • Early Fall: Campus meetings and open forums to gather community input.
  • Late Fall: JCJ will develop preliminary estimates for proposed building designs.
  • Winter: Crozier-Williams renovation design will be completed.

Additional details on this project are forthcoming, including a website that will allow you to track progress on this exciting project. I look forward to your involvement!

Sincerely,

Richard Madonna
Vice President for Finance and Administration
