The CC Concert Band performs twice each semester, presenting challenging and exciting repertoire from the wind ensemble literature. We often feature student conductors and soloists, especially departing seniors. New members are always welcome, by audition. Recent works include Dello Joio's Satiric Dances, Whitacre's October, and Grainger's Children's March.

Connecticut College Orchestra (1 credit)

Connecticut College Orchestra violins

The Connecticut College orchestra welcomes students from all majors. We perform standard orchestral repertoire as well as newer works and chamber music. We frequently collaborate with the choirs, as well as with ensembles outside of campus. In the Fall semester 2019, the orchestra performed Michael Shapiro’s score for the 1931 original movie Frankenstein in collaboration with the Wesleyan University Orchestra.

In addition, our resident world-class faculty soloists are regularly invited to work with the orchestra in sectional rehearsals, and they also perform with us. Students have the opportunity to study privately with these renowned faculty members every semester, free of charge.

For more information, please contact Jaroslaw Lis, director.
