Project/Mission Statement

Creativity, intuition, and imagination are precious qualities unique to humans, yet often untapped by today’s technological, data-driven culture. In the transition from adolescence to adulthood, many people assign themselves to be either “gifted” or not with the magical talent of artistry. Using the framework of a multiplayer videogame, No Blank Canvas aims to facilitate artistic confidence through creative play.Developed in the Unity engine, the game is designed for 3-5 players, and runs in three phases: observation, interpretation, and realization. By largely omitting input processing and win-states, my goal is to create an experience that is concentrated primarily on player contribution. This lends itself to creative play, where the act of being creative with one’s input is motivated by a unique outcome, one which, in this case, is a collaboratively-made artwork.
